Environmental Monitoring

The purpose of environmental monitoring is to ensure that the activities in the environment conform to laws and Acts as well as permits and regulations given by authorities. 

Urgent Environmental Issues  

In case of an accident or incident, with emission or discharge released into the environment or a risk of such an incident, the emergency response centre has to be informed immediately on 112. 

Non-urgent Environmental Issues 

If a member of the general public suspects that someone is not acting in compliance with a licence or the provisions of environmental law, they may choose to do the following: 

1. Notify the environmental protection authority or the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of the observation 

1. Initiate a case with the environmental protection authority or the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment 

1. File a request for investigation with the police 

In matters concerning Commencement of an action, service is available only in Finnish.

All application documents must be submitted in Finnish.
