The library provides an easily accessible cultural service and meeting place. In Kuusamo, the services of the main library are complemented by the mobile library Kirjakka.
A part of the OUTI Library Network
As a part of the OUTI Library Network, the Kuusamo library can provide also selections of other OUTI libraries for the use of its customers.
Collections
When selecting the library material, it is diversity, timeliness and observing the local perspective that is aimed for. The collections can be used in the library in person and almost everything is available for borrowing also home.

From the joint e-library of Kainuu and Northern Ostrobothnia you can find something interesting to read, to listen and to watch: e-books, audio books, e-papers, films and digital courses. The language selection is wide.
In order to use the services you need a library card and a personal identification number, PIN, combined to this card. You will be provided with the PIN code by the library.
Premises
In the reading room of the main library, you can read daily newspapers and magazines, at the reading stop, Lukupysäkki, familiarise yourself with the newest books, in the public space Olkkari aimed at young people play board and console games, surf online with the customer computers or use office programmes. Working with your own device is also possible, as there is an open wireless network available in the customer premises.
There is a public space Kivakka available for the customers that can be booked free of charge for the purpose of working and studying. Furthermore, the space is hired for meetings and small-scale cultural events (chargeable). Ask more from the library.
A self-service library expands its opening hours
You can visit the self-service library of the main library outside the normal opening hours of the library. You have access to the library by logging in with our library card and PIN code, which is provided to you by the librarian.

You can also utilise self-services. In the main library, there is a borrowing and returning automaton, on the Internet the OUTI digital library along with various kinds of online services for the purpose of searching information and utilising e-materials.
