Our school is centrally located in the town centre of Kuusamo, close by the Kuusamo Holy Cross Church (Pyhän Ristin kirkko). The Kirkkoketo School has a long tradition as it is the oldest school in Kuusamo.
Our school has age groups from preschoolers to second-graders. In the School, we also have pupils within extended compulsory education, who integrate into the ordinary education classes according to their skills. In total, there are about 150 of us, depending on the age group. Morning and afternoon activities are a natural part of the activity in our school.
Inside the old walls and in the middle of the historical school stories we provide up-to-date education. Enthusiastic teachers along with other personnel take care of this!
The Kirkkoketo School provides its pupils with a safe and interesting start for the school journey. We emphasise child-oriented education and functionality. We work closely together with homes.
Our school is within walking distance from the indoor swimming pool and the indoor ice rink as well as the sports field. Ski trails are next to us as well as nature with the island Kirkkosaari and its surroundings along with the lake Toranki with its shores. Both the Library and the Culture and Congress Centre, the Kuusamo Hall, are also close.
Pupils are from the town centre and from the areas of Ruostesuo and Toranki. There are also pupils coming from up the roads Ouluntie and Kurkijärventie. In pre-primary education, there are also pupils from the Sänkikangas school district.
In the school yard, you can see happy and active pupils full of energy playing, for we are a school for young children.
